DONAIRE WANTS TO GET BOXING OUT OF HIS SYSTEM FOR A LITTLE WHILE

Following his four title fights this year WBO, Ring Magazine and WBC Diamond Belt super bantamweight champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire wants to get boxing out of his system for a little while.

Donaire, who received a warm welcome on his arrival early Wednesday, morning spent much of the day shuttling between ABS-CBN television and radio studios where he was embraced by show business stars and simple fans because of his sterling performance in scoring a smashing 3rd round knockout over Mexican warrior Jorge ?Travieso? Arce at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas last Saturday.

Donaire told the Manila Standard that ?I want to keep boxing on a low for now. I think it's time to really just rest at least for this month. I want to get boxing out of my mind and freshen my whole system ? my body and my mental state.?

However, Donaire said ?once the next year comes in you know I?m going to be knocking on Bob Arum?s door and ask who have you got for me??

He said he is ready ?to take as many fights as I can during the year and if I can do five, I will do five. I feel strong each time I get into the ring and each moment that I?m in the gym I just keep learning and learning and I like to fight.?

Told that most people consider him a complete fighter Donaire humbly disagreed. He revealed ?I am very hard on myself in the fight. If you ask my trainer Brian Schwartz he was like why are you acting like that."

He said ?I felt that I made so many mistakes early on and if he (Arce) was a better opponent he could have capitalized on it and I could have been in trouble. That?s one thing I have to get out of my system. It's to learn not to be too confident and to relaxed and to go out there and start my gameplan rather than wait for it, wait for it.?

Donaire admitted he ?made a few mistakes? in the fight against Arce and he needs ?to tweak and tune in.?

Donaire clearly wants to take on WBC champion Abner Mares next but realizes that the bad blood between his promoter, Bob Arum and Oscar De La Hoya?s Golden Boy Promotions is likely to prevent the fight being made leaving WBA champion Guillermo Rigondeaux as the next option.

Donaire told us while Rigondeaux ?doesn?t deserve to fight me, he holds the belt and I?m just gonna go for that. Just clean it up so there?s nothing left to say. But if not, they are the type of people who make the negotiating process difficult and if that fight happens it will be good but if it doesn?t there is always the 126 pound division (featherweight) where they?ve got WBO champion Orlando Salido (39-11-2, 27 KO?s) and other guys who I am going to aim for.?

The only hitch is that Salido is scheduled to defend his title against Miguel ?Mikey? Garcia (30-0, 26 KO?s), the undefeated brother of Donaire?s trainer Robert Garcia at New York?s Madison Square Garden on January 19, 2013 and should Garcia win over Salido, Donaire made it clear he wouldn?t fight Garcia.

He said ?we are teammates and we don?t go after each other. We support each other no matter what and I strongly believe he (Garcia) is going to beat Salido.?
