Keith Thurman ( 19-0-0, 18KO) of Clearwater, Florida was matched against a former world champion in Carlos Quintana (29-4-0, 22KO) of Puerto Rico on the undercard of the Guerrero-Berto fight last night at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario California.

Although Thurman had a very good record and has fought twice in the Los Angeles area, not too many are familiar with him in spite of his undefeated record.

Well, last night he made sure Los Angeles fans will remember him.

Thurman showcased his proven heavy handed punching prowess against Quintana dropping the ex-champion from Puerto Rico in the first round with a well placed left hand to the liver area that reduced Quintana to a defensive fighter the rest of the shortened 10 round fight.

Quintana barely beat the count but from the perspective of those at the arena, it was no longer a matter of when but how Thurman will finally put an end to the fight.

In the fourth round Thurman threw a massive right hand that pushed Quintana backward forcing him to hold to the ropes in order to stay upright.

A couple of power right hands following an equally strong left almost took the daylight out of Quintana who had no choice but put up a defensive posture as he backed up towards the ropes across the ring with Thurman in hot pursuit.

Thurman sensing that the end is near for Quintana chased him around and landed a smashing right hand which he threw again smack to the face forcing referee Jack Reiss to step in and put his hand around Quintana signifying the fight is over.

Thurman?s smashing victory puts him on the spot light in the 147 lbs division. It would be interesting to see how Golden Boy will handle his next fights.

Thurman, from our perspective is ready for the big time and big money fights. He earned it!

It would be interesting if Golden Boy can match him against their cash cow, Canelo Alvarez at a catch weight of 150lbs.

Given what Thurman has shown so far this writer believes that he can give Alvarez a good run for his money. He may even beat him too.
