Undefeated 23 year old rising star Adrien ?The Problem? Broner had no problem moving up in weight to challenge southpaw Antonio DeMarco of Tijuana, Mexico for DeMarco?s 135 pound WBC lightweight title at the Boardwalk in Atlantic City.
In the fight which was telecast on the popular weekly boxing show "Big Time Bakbakan" over AKTV IBC 13 the former WBO junior lightweight champion Broner ripped DeMarco with vicious body shots, uppercuts and combinations to batter the Mexican at 1:49 of the eighth round.
Broner lived up to being the pre-fight favorite with a dominating performance against DeMarco who is considered a genuine Mexican warrior.
But as pointed out by boxing writer Nick Bellafatto, De Marco has " proven vulnerable to those who throw skillful combinations with lot?s of hand speed, attributes the challenging Broner demonstrates incessantly.
Although DeMarco behind an excellent jab won the first round, Broner quickly settled down, started connecting with jabs of his own before his superior skill and punching power gradually wore down the Mexican who he caught with accurate punches the rest of the way before ending it in round eight.
As the fight progressed Broner was catching DeMarco with almost every punch he threw before in the middle of round eight he nailed DeMarco with a left uppercut that sent him reeling backwards and down on one knee forcing his trainer to throw in the towel at 1:49 of the round.
The 23 year old Broner improved to 25-0 with 21 knockouts while DeMarco dropped to 28-3-1 with 21 knockouts.
