Go Teng Kok.
Athletics chief Go Teng Kok who is challenging POC president Jose "Peping" Cojuangco who is seeking a third term as POC president scored a victory in the Supreme Court which dismissed the plea of Cojuangco, Chairman Monico Puentevella and secretary general Steve Hontiveros seeking to overturn the decision of Pasig Regional Trial Court presiding judge Rodolfo R. Bonifacio who had upheld Go Teng Kok?s position as PATAFA AND Karate-do president.
Judge Bonifacio had over-ruled Cojuangco?s efforts to have Go Teng Kok declared persona non grata and expelled from the POC for lack of due process and for violation of IOC and POC rules regarding expulsion.
The Supreme Court Third Division ruling was penned by Chief Justice Sereno as acting member in the absence of Justice Peralta.
Meantime a so-called reformist group may not have a candidate to challenge incumbent POC president Cojuangco who is seeking a third term after esteemed businessman-sportsman Manny Pangilinan didn?t? push through with his bid for the presidency despite a clamor for him to run.
They are fielding a complete ticket in the upcoming elections.
With Ricky Vargas, Pangilinan?s trusted president of the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines helping the reformist group, vice president Manny Lopez believes the ticket has a good chance of being elected and ?surrounding ?Peping? with individuals who will ensure change and a return to integrity in sports and will primarily show care and concern for our athletes.?
Heading the ticket will be current POC chairman Monico Puentevella with Lopez seeking re-election as 1st Vice President with Cycling?s Bembol Tolentino as 2nd vice president, Romy Ribano of Squash as treasurer and Jun Galidez of Golf along with candidates for the board Gener Dungo of Volleyball, Toto Africa of Fencing, Jude Echauz of Sailing and Hector Navasero of Baseball.
