World rated 29 year old bantamweight Drian Francisco wants a shot at newly-crowned 24 year old WBO bantamweight champion Pungluang Sor Singyu.
Franciso?s manager Elmer Anuran told the Manila Standard that ?should Drian win impressively? in his scheduled ten round bout on the undercard of the flyweight unification title fight between WBO champion Brian Viloria and WBA champion Hernan ?Tyson? Marquez on November 17 at the LA Sports Arena he is ready ?to make an offer to the camp of Pungluang to defend his title in Manila in the first quarter of next year.?
However, Anuran stressed he will ?try to start negotiations with Pungluang?s promoter but it all depends on Drian?s performance in November.?
Pungluang Sor Sungyu who is handled by the big OneSongchai Promotions in Thailand headed by the charming Pariyakorn Ratanasuban won the title vacated by Jorge ?Traviseo? Arce with a 9th round TKO over AJ ?Bazooka? Banal last October 20 at the Mall of Asia Arena when referee Tony Weeks called a half after Pungluang dropped Banal who beat the count but was in no position to continue.
Anuran revealed that almost immediately after the fight ended he received a call from Francisco who is training at the Justin Fortune gym who said ?Pungluang?s style was very much suited for him? with Anuran citing Francisco?s hand-speed, movements and power.
The Pungluang-Banal fight was staged by ALA Promotions in cooperation with ABS-CBN.
WBO president Francisco ?Paco? Valcarcel revealed that ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer went through some tough negotiations to bring the title fight to Manila at considerable cost.
Anuran told us he is well aware of the difficult negotiations ahead should the planned world title challenge push through.
Francisco is coming off a 1st round knockout pf Mexico's Jose Carlos Vargas in Mexico and has a record of 23-1-1 with 18 knockouts while Pungluang Sor Singyu has a record of 43-1 with 28 knockouts and has beaten 17 Filipinos in the process.
