American Rick Stahaley who trained Manny Pacquiao when he won his first world title, the WBC flyweight crown, with a spectacular 8th round knockout of Thailand?s Chatchai Sasakul on December 3, 1998 believes WBC Diamoind Belt and WBO champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire is a complete fighter.
Stahaley told the Manila Standard that Donaire has ?got the whole package? and he is ?moving up? in terms of his performance in the ring.
He said it was ?tough to follow? the ?Bam Bam? Rios ? Mike Alvarado war but that Donaire was ?pretty good and showed that he is such a powerful counter-puncher.?
Stahaley said this was the reason Toshiaki Nishioka, just like some fighters before him, didn?t want to engage Donaire and that in the Nishioka fight Donaire showed he had ?improved in closing the show.?
The one-time Pacquiao trainer who has consistently extolled the qualities of Donaire said a fight against Mexican warrior Jorge Arce ?will be a money fight? but that he expects Donaire to rip Arce apart within six rounds, especially if Arce decides to go after Donaire.
Stahaley agreed with Donaire that while Guillermo Rigondeaux is a likely challenger in the future especially since the Cuban has signed up with Top Rank promoter Bob Arum, ?he has to build his name first? before hoping to face Donaire.
