WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire, the newly crowned WBC Diamond Belt champion is willing to fight Mexican warrior Jorge Arce even in Mexico as Donaire continues his quest to wipe out the contenders in the 122 pound division.

Donaire confirmed what Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told us after Donaire dominated Japanese southpaw and WBC champion emeritus Toshiaki Nishioka last Saturday at the Home Depot Center in Carson City, California before a crowd of over 7,600 fans, that a fight against Arce in the huge stadium in Mexico City was being talked about although there was nothing definite.

Donaire who received eight stitches in his left hand the day after his skin split open and bled profusely from the second round onwards in his battle with Nishioka whom he dropped with a perfectly-timed left uppercut in round six and then blasted him with another cracking right straight in round nine, forcing referee Raul Caiz Sr to call a halt at 1:54 of the round, indicated he may be ready to fight Arce in December.

However, Arum has said that a February or April fight date appeared more likely since Donaire would need time for his injured hand to heal before beginning training again.

WBO president Francisco ?Paco? Valcarcel has described Donaire as ?a shining star in boxing? and added he is a worthy successor to ?Fighter of the Decade? Manny Pacquiao.

Valcarcel told us in advance that the WBO is proud of Donaire and will name him the organization?s ?Fighter of the Year.?

Aside from his amazing speed and power, Valcarcel said Donaire is ?a very intelligent, thinking fighter? and predicted that should he move up to the featherweight division he would beat reigning champion Oscar Salido of Mexico.
