WBA flyweight champion Hernan ?Tyson? Marquez (34-2-0, 25 KO?s) of Mexico is motivated for his unification title fight against WBO champion Brian Viloria (31-3-0, 18 KO?s) of the Philippines scheduled for November 17 at the Los Angeles Sports Arena.
The 24 year old Marquez told boxingscene.com ?I am very motivated. My mind is only focused on beating Viloria, so I am training with a great team led by Robert Garcia in Oxnard. I?m very happy, there is nothing else that I need. We are eager and focused on training.?
The twice-postponed fight had disrupted Viloria?s training and forced him to taper off before resuming his preparation for the fight which was set to take place on November 7 but was moved for a second time to November 17.
However, the WBO champion conceded ?the delays come with the territory? although no reasons were given for the postponement amidst suggestions that Marquez was having trouble making the 112 flyweight limit.
Marquez was two pounds overweight in a scheduled defense against former WBC light flyweight champion Rodel Mayol but in a dubious twist suddenly made the weight which prompted Mayol to pull out of the fight.
Zanfer Promotions Fernando Beltran had to convince MP Promotions and Manny Pacquiao consultant Michael Koncz to allow Richie Mepranum who was scheduled to fight in a super flyweight bout on the undercard to face Marquez in a ten-round non-title bout which Marquez won.
Viloria, a two-division world champion scored one of the biggest wins of his career when he mauled Pound-for-pound top ten fighter Giovanni Segura to win by an 8th round TKO on December 11, 2011 and followed this up with a rousing 9th round TKO over Omar Nino Romero last May 13.
After easing off in training for a couple of weeks because of the postponements, Viloria told us he had resumed training and ?feels really good.?
