Pan Asian Boxing Association light flyweight champion Randy Petalcorin figures in a ten round non title bout against Noel Adelmita in Iligan City on Sunday.
The 20 year old Petalcorin who is ranked No. 8 by the WBA and No. 15 by the WBO has a record of 17-1- with 13 knockouts while Adelmita who is one year older has a record of 12-4-2 with 2 knockouts.
Well known Australian promoter Peter Maniatis told us that Adelmita ?is a decent boxer and has a technical draw result with Jethar Oliva.?
However, in is last fight Adelmita was knocked out in the 5th round in a WBO Oriental Flyweight title bout by Thailand?s Kwanpichit 13 Rien Express whose birth name is Prasitsak Papoem. The Thai champion is undefeated with a record of 17-0 with 6 knockouts.
Maniatis said Petalcorin is edging up in the World rankings and at 20 years of age he is getting closer to fighting for a World Title with 34 year old interim WBA 108 pound World champion Alberto Rossel on the radar for a possible world title fight against Petalcorin.
Maniatis told the Manila Standard "l have seen Alberto Rossel fight and think Petalcorin has a good chance of beating him if the fight takes place."
Also fighting on the Sunday evening card is exciting lightweight prospect Harmonito Della Torre who has a 4 - 0 - and 3 KO record. He is only 18 years of age and stands 5ft 8inc and has the ability to become an exciting fighter.
Maniatis said Della Torre is very fast and has good skills and footwork and is a power puncher who will develop into a star of the future. However, he is matched up against Eric Mansira who has a woeful record of 0-6.
