Hard-hitting Filipino southpaw Florante ?Little Pacquiao? Condes is confident he can beat defending champion Hekkie ?The Hexecutioner? Buddler and win the IBO title when they clash at Emperors Palace in South Africa on Sunday (Manila Time) in a fight card titled ?Last Man Standing.?
Supersport said the former IBF champion who won the title from Muhammad Rachman of Indonesia in Jakarta on July 7, 2007 expressed confidence at a function to promote the fight and predicted he will be the last man standing with his hand raised after the battle with Budler.
The 32 year old Condes withdrew from a previous bout against the South African, who holds the IBO strawweight title when he was injured as he fell off a tree while hunting birds in his hometown.
Trainer Brico Santig quoted Condes who said he had fully recovered from the accident that temporarily halted his career. He could not wait to take on Budler.
Supersport reported that ?Condes may be beyond his best but he does not think so. He has a professional record of 25-6-1 but has lost three of his last six fights and has been largely inactive during the past two years.?
On the other hand the 24 year-old Budler is probably at the prime of his career, having compiled a record of 20 wins from 21 fights. The WBC now rates him at No 3 in the division.
Budler said "I've never been in better shape for a fight but I'm certainly not going to underestimate an opponent who has achieved what Condes has done."
Budler?s trainer, Colin Nathan, said the champion had done everything necessary in preparing for the fight. They are aiming at a convincing victory.
