Former Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation champion Roli Gasca (19-3, 5 KO?s) has lost in his bid to win the IBO super bantamweight title, dropping a twelve round unanimous decision to tough Alexander Bakhtin at the new business and sports center Varshavka Sky in the south of Moscow.
Boxingscene.com reported that the fight was unspectacular, filled with fouls, clinches and tackles with Bakhtin who was ranked No. 3 by the WBC and No. 6 by the WBA and IBF clinched a lot preventing Gasca from inflicting any damage.
The report by Alexey Sukachev said Bakhtin used his jab to control the early rounds but that Gasca became extra aggressive swinging wildly to tag the Russian but took a lot of punishment in return.
However, Gasca rocked Bakhtin in rounds six and twelve.
All three judges has Bakhtin the winner with Vladimir Nazarov and Pawel Kardynyi turning in identical scorecards of 118-110 while Philippe Verbecke had it 119-110 for the Russian who improved his unbeaten record to 30-0 with 11 knockouts.
Bakhtin was coming off a twelve round unanimous decision over Nehomar Cermeno in a battle for the vacant WBA International title last April 14.
