Los Angeles, CA.- Top Rank Promotions officially announced today the fourth and last fight between boxing rivals Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines and Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico.
Top Rank's President Todd Duboef introduced the two fighters at the first of three press conferences held at the Beverly Hills Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
"On December 8,2012, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, we will see the fourth match between these two legends," Duboef announced. He then enumerated notable rivalries in boxing that resulted in four or more fights.
"And what was the common ingredient? Almost everyone of them are in the Hall of Fame," said Duboef. He stated that this fourth bout between Pacquiao and Marquez will cement the legacy of both fighters.
Marquez explained that the reason he is fighting Pacquiao again is that he wants to prove that he is the better fighter of the two after figuring out in three close matches. "I know him," he said.
"I want the referee to raise my hand," said Marquez who promised that he will train very hard for December 8th and not leave the decision to the judges which produced two close but controversial results.
Pacquiao meantime expressed that he wanted to erase the doubts of the boxing fans that thinks that he lost his third fight with Marquez last November.
"This time, we need to train hard and give a good fight and put this fight in the history of boxing," said the Filipino sports superstar.
Pacquiao verbalized that he intends to keep fight short and leave no more doubts in the minds of the fans who has grown accustom to their close matches. He promised to train hard and show up in the ring with the old fire in his eyes and hands.
"I want to show the old Manny Pacquiao when I was twenty five or twenty four years old, the hungry Manny Pacquiao!"
The promotional caravan for the two will then move to New York on Wednesday and in Mexico City on Friday.
