WBO/IBF super bantamweight champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire said Sunday he was inspired by what he described as a ?helluva show? put on by undefeated, longtime friend, WBC/WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward who retained his title with a 10th round TKO of WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson who dropped down in weight to make the title fight.

Donaire who was at ringside for the fight at the Oracle Arena in the Bay Area in California told the Manila Standard, Ward was ?amazing and came in with a great game-plan. It was incredible.?

Asked whether an ?incredible performance? from him would be next when he faces Japan?s classy southpaw and WBC super champion Toshiaki Nishioka at the Home Depot Center in Carson City on October 13, Donaire replied ?I?m inspired, that?s for sure. I am inspired to go back to my roots. Andre Ward inspired me to go back to how I fight.?

Donaire revealed that he had seen Ward in his dressing room and the champion ?came up to me and said ?work hard and if you work hard you can?t be beaten Nonito.?

He said ?while that inspired me I have been working really hard trying to make things go and now we?re very confident.?

Donaire said ?sparring has been so far, so good.? He said he had just sparred six rounds against good fighters and we are in good hands.?

His sparring partner is undefeated super bantamweight Roman Morales (12-0, 6 KO's).

Trainer Robert Garcia drives down to the Undisputed Gym from time to time from his gym in Oxnard to check on Donaire?s work outs and will be seeing him again on Monday.

Garcia, a former world champion, is also busy training Brandon ?Bam Bam? Rios who has a tough battle against undefeated, hard-hitting Mike Alvarado in a WBO light welterweight title eliminator on the Donaire-Nishioka fight card promoted by Top Rank.
