WBC Silver minimum weight champion Denver Cuello is ready to fight anyone, according to his promoter/manager and trainer Aljoe Jaro, himself a former boxer.
Aljoe Jaro confirmed a WBC report that Cuello who is ranked No.1 minimum weight by bthe WBC will be featured in what the premier world boxing body described as ? a great c ard full of talented boxers? presented by Golden Boy Promotions, Canelo Promotions and Boxeo de Gala in Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico on September 29.
Aljoe Jaro said the two possible opponents of Cuello are WBC light flyweight champion Armando Torres or former WBO minimum weight champion Ivan Calderon of Puerto Rico.
However the 37 year old southpaw Calderon is scheduled to face WBO champion Moises Fuentes in a title fight in Puerto Rico on October 6.
The 31 year old Torres who is ranked No. 5 light flyweight by the WBC has emerged as the likely opponent of Cuello has a record of 19-9 with 13 knockouts including two wins over former WBC Silver champion Sammy Gutierrez.
In their first meeting on December 10, 2011 Torres won by an 8th round TKO while in the rematch Torres won a ten round majority decision last June 9.
The 25 year old Cuello has a record of 31-4-6 with 21 knockouts and is a devastating puncher who won the WBC Silver minimum weight title with a spectacular 1st round TKO over Carlos Perez on October 15, 2011 and retained the title with a crushing 2nd round TKO over fancied Ganigan Lopez last May 19 in Mexico.
Aljoe Jaro told the Manila Standard he had informed the matchmaker that ?whoever they choose as an opponent is no problem. We are ready to fight anybody, no matter who they pick.?
