OPBF super flyweight champion Z “The Dream” Gorres has definitely got a fight lined up for him by Golden Boy Promotions on December 15. But whether it will be a title shot against Fernando Montiel or an interim title fight should Montiel refuse to fight the flashy Filipino southpaw will be known shortly.

Respected boxing patron Tony Aldeguer of the famous ALA Gym said WBO Asia Pacific head Leon Panoncillo had informed well-known boxing promoter and manager Sammy Gelo-ani early yesterday that the December 15 fight date had been confirmed.

Panoncillo said that the planned November 17 title clash between Montiel and Nicaragua’s William Gonzalez had been cancelled which left the way open for a Gorres title shot at Montiel.

However, Aldeguer said he wasn’t sure whether Montiel would be willing to take on Gorres who is coming of an extremely impressive fourth round TKO win over tough Indonesian Sonny Manakene.

Aldeguer indicated that should the Montiel title fight not push through the WBO was almost certain to order an interim title fight for Gorres. Gorres has a record of 26-1-1 with 14 KO’s while Montiel’s record is 32-2-1 with 24 KO’s.
