JORGE PAEZ DEFEATS OMAR CHAVEZ AGAIN; WANTS A WORLD TITLE FIGHT

P?ez did it again. In a one-sided yet entertaining combat in a hot Tijuana night Jorge "Maromerito" P?ez (32-4-1, 19 KOs) of Mexicali, scored another big win over fellow Mexican Omar Ch?vez to claim the vacant WBC International Silver Super Welterweight Title, and now P?ez aims at a title shot.

Despite competing way above his ideal fight weight, Jorge P?ez Jr. was simply too quick-handed and crafty for the bigger Omar Ch?vez (28-2-1, 21 KOs), who at no moment was able to take control of the talented "Maromerito."

Paez Jr., 24, effectively used left hooks and uppercuts to press for in-fight action throughout the exciting 10 rounds at the full capacity Auditiorio Municipal of Tijuana, as he also managed to get the upper hand in the middle and long distance action.

His defensive moves were equally effective, skilfully ducking dangerous blows and neutralizing much of offensive attempted by Omar Ch?vez, 22, one of the popular sons of legendary Julio Cesar Ch?vez Sr.

Fans enjoyed the excellent paced fight, especially when "Maromerito" Paez displayed flashes of colorful boxing moves like the ones that made famous his California's hall-of-famer dad, two-time featherweight champion Jorge "El Maromero" P?ez Sr.

There were no cuts and no knockdowns during the combat which the all-California panel of judges saw 96-94 in the three scorecards, all in favor of Jorge Paez, who indeed was the clearly more dominant, aggressive and resourceful warrior.

Philboxing's non-official score card tallied 99-91 in favor of Jorge P?ez (only round eight for Ch?vez). The score card of veteran Mexican boxing historian Eduardo Lamaz?n was also 99-91 in favor of P?ez.

After the fight, which was seeing nationwide in Mexico through Box Azteca in HD, Jorge "El Maromerito" Paez (also nicknamed "El Rat?n, English: the mouse), was interviewed by ringside analysts Rodolfo Vargas and ex champion Marco Antonio Barrera:

P?ez: Tonight I reiterated my victory in Chiapas (where last December P?ez defeated by points Omar Ch?vez)

Barrera: Congratulations, tonight you have demonstrated that your triumph in Chiapas was not a lucky win; here in reiterated your win here your home of Tijuana, and this time your win was even more clear than the one before.

P?ez: Yes true. Thanks to the people of Tijuana who supported me. The venue and all here in Tijuana was so awesome tonight. Now I am just so happy and motivated to keep going. Thanks to God that for this victory.

Vargas: Now what would you like, what's next?

P?ez: I'd like to fight for a world title. For that I should fight in my weight which is super lightweight. This thing (fighting in super welterweight to face Ch?vez) was an exception, and my next fight is up to my promoters.
