Fernando Beltran: ?If Pacquiao wants to prove that he is still in the highest level, he needs to fight Marquez.?

New York ? Juan Manuel Marquez is in wait mode nowadays. That is according to his promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions.

?We are waiting for Manny Pacquiao because Manny Pacquiao is coming back and he is going to decide if he is going to fight Marquez or if he fights Bradley,? said Beltran. The Mexico based promoter was in New York last Thursday as part of the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.?Sergio Martinez press tour that took place at the Edison Ballroom in Times Square.

Pacquiao and Marquez figured in a three bout saga that has the Filipino star winning two of the three fights in two hotly contested decisions and drawing one of them. Their third bout last November which Pacquiao won by a close Majority decision was highly disputed and debated in the sport due to the tightness of the battle between the two.

It is in this premise that Beltran hopes Pacquiao will fight his prized ward instead of a rematch with Timothy Bradley who stole Pacquiao?s WBO belt in a controversial Split Decision last June in Las Vegas.

?Honestly, Pacquiao and Marquez was a close fight. The other one (Pacquiao-Bradley), was not even a close fight,? emphasized Beltran. ?That is what the people want to see and what the people want t see him rematch with. Everybody thought that Marquez won or at least it is even. The media was seventy percent Marquez, thirty percent Pacquiao,? Beltran explained.

Beltran also challenged the Filipino icon saying that ?If Pacquiao wants to prove that he is still in the highest level, he needs to fight Marquez."

The Mexican promoter who also promotes Chavez Jr., Jorge Arce and Hernan ?Tyson? Marquez is also denying reports that he and Juan Manuel Marquez are insisting that the proposed fourth fight with Pacquiao be held in Marquez?s home town of Mexico City. ?No, No, No,? exclaimed Beltran. ?If he wants it done in the Philippines, we will fight in the Philippines,? he said.

Beltran believes that Pacquiao won his last fight against Bradley but it was a win that did not impressed him. ?Personally, I think that Pacquiao won. I did not see him impress. It was a shame that both guys did not give it all in my point of view,? he expressed.

Beltran also announced that Marquez will not be fighting another Filipino boxer in Alfred Sabaupan this month as was previously reported. The said bout was supposed to take place in Mexico this Saturday as Marquez?s preparatory bout for Pacquiao. But he ensured that Marquez who is now the WBO junior welterweight champion will fight before the year ends be it with Pacquiao or somebody else. ?There are a lot of fights. Right now, we are the 140 pound champion. We like Bradley too, Lamont Peterson and a lot of other fighters,? Beltran said.

Beltran and Marquez are hoping that Pacquiao would look pass Bradley and choose them as their opponents for November 10.

?Manny Pacquiao is a sensational person and we respect him a lot. I consider myself his friend and I really like him and I wish him the best. I hope he decides to fight Marquez. I think he is going to sell a lot and a lot of pay per view. But I wish him the best. Whoever he choose, Manny Pacquiao is the greatest. I love Manny Pacquiao,? admitted Beltran.
