WBC flyweight champion Sonny Boy Jaro is already in Japan for his first title defense against Toshiyuki Igarashi in Saitama on Monday, July 16.

Prior to his departure along with members of his team headed by manager/promoter/trainer and former boxer Aljoe Jaro, Sonny Boy who won the title with a stunning 6th round knockout of long-reigning Thai world champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam last March 2 told boxing writer Chito Yu Katangkatang he was ready to defend his title and ?show the world that my victoy over Pongsaklek was no fluke.?

The 30 year old Sonny Boy Jaro who has a record of 34-10-5 with 24 knockouts promised Filipino fight fans that he is ?in better shape now more than during my fight against Pongsaklek? and will prove that he is a worthy champion.

Aljoe Jaro indicated they don?t plan to depend on the judges and would go for a knockout against Igarashi because Sonny Boy knows ?the only sure way to win is by a knockout.?

He said Sonny Boy Jaro trained precisely to use his power against the challenger and was ripped and ready for war against the 28 year old southpaw Igarashi who has a record of 15-1-1 with 10 knockouts.

Igarashi, the Japanese flyweight champion earned the title shot at Jaro following his victory over Wilbert Uicab of Mexico in a title eliminator last November 6, 2011.

Also seeing action on the undercard will be former two division world champion Gerry Penalosa?s prot?g? Michael Farenas who will face WBA super featherweight champion Takashi Uchiyama.

The 32 year old Uchiyama who is undefeated with a record of 18-0 with 15 knockouts is heavily favored to retain his title against the 28 year old southpaw Farenas who has a record of 34-3-3 with 26 knockouts.
