PACQUIAO WANTS A MAYWEATHER FIGHT

?Fighter of the Decade? Manny Pacquiao wants Floyd Mayweather Jr next but Top Rank promoter Bob Arum has made it clear they can only realistically work on the possible megabuck fight which the world wants to see, sometime next year.

After what he described as ?a great time? over dinner at Arum?s home, the Top Rank promoter told the Manila Standard that ?obviously the one fight that he (Pacquiao) wants is (Floyd) Mayweather. That?s the guy he wants to fight. Other than that I hope he gets some inspiration in the Holy Land? when he begins a visit to Israel tomorrow (Wednesday in the US) before traveling to France with wife Jinkee and their four children on vacation.

He told us that Pacquiao wants Mayweather but that ?I don?t think we have enough time to do it.? Arum said a Mayweather fight could not take place this year because the undefeated champion is serving out a prison term and wouldn?t be ready to fight until next year if they are able to reach an agreement.

The astute promoter disclosed he didn?t think anybody from among Mayweather?s handlers ?could commit him now for a fight? pointing out that living in prison at the Clark County Detention Center was ?debilitating? especially eating the kind of food that they serve.

Judge Melissa Saragosa had earlier denied a request by Mayweather?s lawyers that he be placed under house arrest for the remainder of his sentence since his career was being ruined by his current environment in prison with the kind of food he had to eat.

Arum indicated that Pacquiao understands that with a Mayweather fight not in play this November, he would need to fight in November and the usual names such as Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez came up during their conversation but no decisions were reached.

Pacquiao?s adviser Michael Koncz said the eight division world champion is going on a vacation with his family ?to relax and will not make any decisions because there is no rush.?

At the same time Koncz confirmed that Pacquiao wants a Mayweather fight but realizes that because of Mayweather?s current situation a November fight would be almost impossible to make.
