Denver Cuello who smashed Mexico?s Ganigan Lopez to win a final eliminator for the WBC light flyweight title scoring a 2nd round TKO in Mexico last May 19 is ready to go after WBC/WBA champion Kazuto Ioka of Japan who won his unification battle with WBA champion Akira Yaegeshi by a unanimous decision in Osaka, Wednesday night.

When the Manila Standard relayed the news of Ioka?s win to Cuello?s manager/trainer and promoter Aljoe Jaro he was delighted saying Ioka can no longer hide from the hard-hitting Filipino southpaw.

Jaro said ?I have no doubt Denver will knock him out because he has both the skill and the power.?

He said the title fight will be held in Japan either in August or September.

Ioka won his unification title fight against fellow Japanese Yaegeshi with all three judges scoring the fight for the talented 23 year old who improved his record to 10-0 with 6 knockouts.

Carlos Sucres scored it for Ioka by a close 115-114 margin, Toshio Sugiyama 115-113 and Thailand?s Anek Hongtongkam 115-113.

Ioka won the WBC title with a 5th round TKO of Thailand?s Oleydong Sithsamerchai on February 11, 2011 and successfully defended it with a twelve round unanimous decision against Mexico?s Juan Hernandez on August 10, 2011.

Yaegeshi won the WBC title with a 10th round TKO over Thailand?s Pornsawan Porpramook on October 24, 2011.

Cuello, on the other hand, won in a final eliminator against Lopez this year after earlier winning the silver title with a cracking devastating 1st round knockout of Carlos Perez who was writing in pain on the canvas after a body shot.

Well known TV boxing analyst Moy Lainez told us that Cuello had been sparring at the ?In This Corner? gym of Rommel Nazario in Sucat, Paranaque with junior lightweight Allan Tanada who said Cuello hit really hard for a little guy and even he felt the power of his punches.
