DONAIRE TRAINER BELIEVES PACQUIAO-BRADLEY CONTROVERSY GOOD FOR EVERYBODY

Former world champion and the trainer of reigning WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire has taken the position that the controversy generated by the widely condemned split decision in the Manny Pacquiao- Timothy Bradley WBO welterweight title fight last June 9 ?is good for everybody.?

In a stand that ran counter to the overwhelming sentiment that Pacquiao was robbed of the decision that even sparked a review by the WBO and a request by Top Rank promoter for an investigation by the Nevada State Attorney General, Garcia told the Manila Standard ?it was a great fight, a very exciting fight and its good because controversy will make you either watch the fight again, it sells a lot, its good for promotion, good for the fighters, good for everybody.?

Garcia said ?it gets us a chance to see another great fight. Timothy Bradley fights like a warrior, I think Pacquiao looked really good and a lot better than his previous fights (vs Shane Mosley and Juan Manuel Marquez). He was in top shape and it was just a great fight.?

Donaire?s trainer added, ?I was there watching it live and I thought Pacquiao won but I haven?t seen it on TV with no sound and maybe its something different. But all I know it was very exciting to watch the fight and all I know is I?m looking forward to them fighting again.?

Garcia?s comments came even as a poll conducted by HBO Sports following a replay of the fight showed 91 percent believed Pacquiao won while only 7 percent believed Bradley won while 2 percent said it was a draw.

Informed that it seems Pacquiao will face Juan Manuel Marquez for the fourth time this November even as Arum argued that a rematch would be meaningless since Pacquiao won handily in the eyes of most of the media, boxers, promoters and fans, Garcia said ?whatever they decide, Bradley next year, its good for Pacquiao. He?s got two big fights that are coming up and he?s got to take care and prepare himself very well and try to do much better.?
