One thing going for undefeated Nigerian Lateef Kayode (18-0, 14 KO?s) when he battles IBO cruiserweight champion Antonio Tarver (29-6, 20 KO?s) at the Home Depot Center in Carson City, Californian on Sunday, Manila Time, is that he trains under the celebrated Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles.
The fight as well as the exciting bouts on the undercard will be telecast on ?Big Time Bakbakan? at 12:00 noon over AKTV IBC 13 right after Viva Sports presentation of Part II of the enthralling Manny Pacquiao-Timothy Bradley Special at 11:00 a.m.
In a WBA 154 pound clash undefeated Austin Trout takes on tough Delvin Rodriguez while Peter Quillin faces his biggest test when he takes on former world champion Ronald ?Winky? Wright.
The 43 year old Tarver scored a sensational stoppage of tough Aussie Danny Green to win the IBO title when Green retired in the 9th round on July 20, 2011 but Tarver is best remembered for being the first fighter to knockout the legendary Roy Jones Jr to become the undisputed light heavyweight champion with a stunning 2nd round knockout in their 2004 rematch.
Lateef Kayode who has earned the nickname ?Power? has strung together 14 knockouts many of them happening in the early rounds.
Considered Kayode?s biggest test was his showdown against tough Matt Godfrey last June 10, 2011 in which Kayode dropped Godfrey three times en route to a clear unanimous decision to win both the North American Boxing Association and the North American Boxing Federation titles.
Promoted by the well-known American promoter Gary Shaw, Kyode is ranked in the top ten if three of the major world boxing organizations.
He is coming off an impressive ten round unanimous decision in an NABA title defense against Felix ?Bad News? Cora Jr last September 9, 2011.
