Poblanito Garcia.
The World Boxing Council has confirmed that the "real" Genaro "Poblanito" Garcia will fight on the "Pinoy Pride XIV" undercard at the Resorts World Hotel and Casino in Manila on June 2.
The announcement was made by Boxeo de Gala who said Garcia is one of its stars and that the Garcia who fought featherweight Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista in Tagbilaran City, Bohol was a fake.
Meantime, WBC president Don Jose Sulaiman told the Manila Standard "Finally we could find where Hugo Correa is licensed. He has a license in Cd. Juarez, Mexico and as he has being called for a hearing six times and has not answered nor attended, we are asking the boxing commission in Cd. Juarez to suspend him until he complies with the WBC Rules and Regulations."
"Poblanito" Garcia will face promising, undefeated Genesis Servania in a ten round featherweight bout on the undercard of the WBO world light flyweight title defense of Donnie Nietes against Mexico's Felipe Salguero.
The fight card will be telecast by the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN which has partnered the famed ALA Promotions in the highly successful "Pinoy Pride" series.
Boxeo de Gala said "Poblanito" Garcia has defeated 5 world champions - Victor Rabanales, Rafael Marquez (the brother of Juan Manuel Marquez), Francisco Tejedor, Mauricio Martinez and Adonis Rivas.
The promoters said that on his return to boxing after a layoff, Garcia won two fights in a row and "now he's looking to be ranked among the best boxers in the world."
"Poblanito" Garcia has a record of 38-8 with 21 knockouts and is looking forward to his clash with the 20 year old Servania who has a record of 17-0 with 5 knockouts.
Poblanito? Garcia said he is determined to erase the damage created by the ?fake? Genaro ?Panterito? Garcia who was stopped in the 2nd round in a farce of a fight against featherweight Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista and vows to KO Servania.
The Mexican said the fake Garcia had ?affected my reputation because the Genaro Garcia who pretended to be me gave no fight.
The promoters that paid a clown fighter who fought as me could not take anything. I resent the situation and I am set to make it clear who the real Genaro Garcia is. The Filipino fans will see when I get there that I am very strong and I throw many punches.?
Garcia said he is known around the world as a ?courageous fighter that never backs down? and noted that Servania?s record says he is undefeated but he ?must have qualities to face a strong and experienced fighter like me. You can also see he has no power in his fists.?
