
GAB CHAIRMAN GUANZON APPOINTED INTERNATIONAL SECRETARY, VOTING MEMBER OF WBC BOARD OF GOVERNORS

World Boxing Council president Don Jose Sulaiman has informed the Manila Standard that the WBC has appointed Games and Amusements Board chairman Juan Ramon Guanzon to a top position in the world?s premier professional boxing organization.
Sulaiman informed us that the GAB chairman had been appointed unanimously by as a voting member of the WBC Board of Governors as well as International Secretary of the WBC.
The WBC president said he is looking forward to meeting the GAB chairman at the next convention of the WBC in the picturesque tourist city of Cancun, Mexico.
In accepting the appointments Chairman Guanzon said ?in behalf of the Filipino people, I humbly accept my appointment with great pride and gratitude and at the same time promise to serve the WBC under your invaluable leadership to the best of my ability.
Sulaiman told us he holds the Philippines in the highest esteem and has always valued the significant contributions made by founding secretary general and the man who wrote the WBC Constitution and By-Laws, the late eminent lawyer Rodrigo ?Rudy? Salud, and GAB chairman and WBC president at that time, the late Justiniano Montano Jr.
The WBC president told us ?I deeply respect and love the Philippines where I have had countless friends since back at the time of my unforgettable Lope ?Papa? Sarreal, Rodrigo Salud, Justiniano Montano, Dominador Cepeda and Eric Buhain and all the people of boxing in the Philippines since my first visit back in the ?Thrilla in Manila? between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier and having the Philippines as one of the founding nations of the WBC back in 1953, almost 50 years ago.?
