Former WBO light flyweight champion Jesus Geles of Colombia says he is hungry to win in his ten round bout against undefeated Milan Melindo on the ?Pinoy Pride XIV? fight card at the Resorts World Hotel and Casino in Manila on June 2.
The Geles-Melindo bout will be on the undercard of the ?Night of Champions? presented by the famed ALA Promotions in cooperation with the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN.
The main features two division world champion and current WBO Light Flyweight World Champion Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes defending his title against WBO and IBF World # 7 Felipe Salguero but while the title fight is getting all the attention the supporting main undercard match-up may just steal the show.
Melindo is considered the most promising world title contender from the Philippines but Geles who matches Melindo?s aggressive and technically sound style has said he is confident after preparing hard at the Centro de Alto Redimiento in Cartegena where he always prepare for his bouts.
The talented Colombian won the world title against tough Mexican Ramon Garcia Hirales last year but lost it in a rematch.
Geles said ?Melindo is known to be a technical fighter. I am also a technical fighter and this will be a very interesting fight. I am hungry and am preparing myself to win.I am still young and hungry to regain my title and at 112 I am comfortable.?
The Colombian fighter said ?I learned a lot from losing my world title and it will surely help me win my fight with Melindo. KO or decision I am preparing myself to win and I would like to thank ALA Promotions and All Star Boxing TutoZabala, Jr. and my manager Osvaldo Martinez for believing in me and giving me another opportunity.?
The Melindo-Gelez tiff is part of a triple championship event on June 2, 2012 at the Resorts World Manila. The fight card also includes rising undefeated Filipino prospect Genesis ?Azukal? Servania going up against ?The Real? Genaro Garcia.
