World Boxing Organization president Francisco ?Paco? Valcarcel has announced that Michael Ortega of the United States has been appointed as referee for the WBO flyweight title defense of champion Brian Viloria (30-3, 17 KO?s) of the Philippines against Omar Nino Romero (31-4-1, 13 KO?s)of Mexico.

The third meeting between the two, titled ?Island Assault III? will be held on Sunday morning at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig City.

It will be Viloria?s second defense of the title he won from Julio Cesar ?Pingo? Miranda and successfully defended with a spectacular 8th round TKO of Giovanni Segura who was ranked No. 9 in Ring Magazine?s pound for pound list.

The judges for the bout will be Glen Feldman and Carlos Ortiz Jr of the United States and Atty. Danrex Tapdasan of the Philippines.

WBO Asia Pacific vice president Leon Panoncillo will be the bout supervisor.

Ortega refereed the WBC welterweight thriller between Victor Ortiz and Andre Berto in April 2011 which Ortriz won.
