Pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao?s adviser Michael Koncz who watched Floyd Mayweather Jr score a unanimous twelve round decision over WBA super welterweight champion Miguel Cotto on television, about an hour after arriving in Los Angeles from Manila said a Pacquiao?Mayweather fight ?is never going to happen.?
In an overseas telephone conversation with the Manila Standard, Koncz said ?he is never going to fight us. It's never going to happen.?
After watching the fight on television, Koncz said ?we know Manny can beat him and Floyd knows that too. Why do you think he wants a 60-40 split??
Asked about Mayweather?s post fight comment to Larry Merchant that he wanted Pacquiao to take the blood test, Koncz replied ?that?s a stupid thing because Manny personally told him on the phone he agreed to the blood test.?
Koncz added ?I don?t care what he (Mayweather) does. We have a fight coming up on June 9 and that?s the fight we are going to concentrate on.?
Arum said he too watched the fight and thought that Mayweather ?looked very, very vulnerable. It was a good fight and I had Cotto winning 5 rounds to 4 after nine rounds and then Cotto faded down the stretch and that Mayweather won the fight but not as wide as the scoring.?
Arum said that while Mayweather ?is great with that shoulder roll that just blocks the right hand but he can?t defend against the left hand. You see how Cotto was hitting him with that left hand almost at will and if he?s fighting a southpaw who has a punch like Pacquiao, he?ll suffer. He doesn?t want to fight Pacquiao.?
Reacting to Mayweather?s comment that if the Pacquiao fight doesn?t happen it's because of him, Arum said ?he?s totally crazy. The kid is deranged.?
The astute Top Rank promoter noted that ?of course we know that Pacquiao is willing to take the blood test and that its always been 50-50 (in the split). He will not fight Pacquiao because there is one thing about Floyd, he knows boxing and if you solve one problem there?ll be another.?
