The real Genaro ?Poblantino? Garcia, the Mexican super bantamweight not the fake Genaro ?Panterita? Garcia who got knocked out by Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista in a farcical fight is coming to Manila to battle undefeated prospect Genesis Servania on June 2 at the Resorts World Hotel and Casino.
ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer told the Manila Standard they had finalized the contract for the original opponent of Bautista to face the 20 year old Servania who has a record of 17-0 with 5 knockouts.
The fight will be on the undercard of the WBO light flyweight title defense of Donnie Nietes against Mexico?s Felipe Salguero in a blockbuster fight card that will also feature undefeated Milan Melindo against former interim WBO world champion Jesus Geles for the vacant WBO International flyweight title.
The fight card will be telecast by the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN on its highly successful ?Pinoy Pride? series.
Aldeguer who worked hard to get the genuine Garcia to fight in the Philippines said ?We owe this to the public.?
Garcia has a record of 38-8 with 22 knockouts and has fought some of the best in his weight division including Wilfredo Vazquez Jr, Toshiano Nishioka, Hozumi Hasegawa and Luis Alberto Perez in title fights and although he lost, Garcia fought well and never backed off.
WBC president Don Jose Sulaiman told us Garcia ?is always a good fighter and pleases the fans. This is going to be a good fight.?
Garcia is coming off a 6th round TKO win over Genaro Camargo last February 11 in a fight in which he dropped Camargo twice in the sixth round.
He earlier scored a 2nd round TKO victory over Jesus Santillan on January 7 this year after a long layoff following a 7th round TKO loss to Vazquez Jr in a WBO title fight on November 20, 2009.
At the same time Sulaiman said they had summoned Hugo Correa for a hearing over the fake Garcia issue but he didn't show up and "cannot be found" despite all the efforts of the WBC to trace him and get to the bottom of the issue.
