The action-packed battle for the vacant Philippine bantamweight title between Monico Laurente and Rey Las Pinas will be featured on ?The Main Event? on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. over AKTV IBC 13.

One of the championship doubleheaders at the 12th Annual Gabriel ?Flash? Elorde annual ?Banquet of Champions? the much taller Laurente used his height and reach advantage effectively in the twelve round clash with a game Rey Las Pinas in ?The Main Event? sponsored by Cobra Energy Drink.

Las Pinas tried to work inside and occasionally caught Laurente with a roundhouse right but Laurente fought a smart fight and prevailed in the end on the scorecards of all three judges ? Danrex Tapdasan, Romy Yulo and Virgilio Garcia.

Going into the clash for the vacant 118 pound title Laurente had a record of 21-7 with 5 knockouts and was coming off a 6th round TKO win over Adelino Balongcas last December 22.

Rey Las Pinas on the other hand stepped into the ring behind a record of 15-5-4 with 9 knockouts and had scored a 4th round TKO over Eric Macas last November 27.
