The World Boxing Council in a statement sent to the Manila Standard says it ?deeply regrets that a great idol of our organization loses his title on the scale? referring to Erik ? El Terrible? Morales who was two pounds over the super lightweight limit of 140 pounds at the official weigh--in at Houston, Texas.

The WBC said Erik Morales ?is an honorable and responsible boxer who complied with the 30 day pre-weigh in registering 152.9 pounds as well as with the 7 day weigh-in last Saturday, registering 147 pounds on the scale.?

The WBC statement said the human body is an enigma and ?this time our champion Erik Morales did not achieve to lose one more gram. Therefore he has lost his world championship on the scale.?

However, the WBC said the fight will push through and is officially sanctioned by the World Boxing Council in accordance with the organization?s rules and regulations.

The WBC made it clear that ?If Danny Garcia wins the bout he will be the new WBC super lightweight world champion. If Erik Morales wins the bout, the title will be declared vacant.? The WBC wished both fighters the best of luck.
