TWO FILIPINO BOXERS LOSE IN JAPAN

Two Filipino boxers ? 31 year old Roel Laguna and 30 year old Danilo ?Pit Bull? Pena have lost in a fight card at the IMP Hall in Osaka, Japan.

Laguna lost by a 5th round TKO to Masayoshi Nakatani, a 22 year old who improved his record to 3-0 with 2 knockouts while Laguna dropped to 12-9-2 with 8 knockouts.

It was Laguna?s third successive defeat having lost by a unanimous eight round decision to Motoki Sasaki on January 14 this year and previously losing twice to Thailand?s Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo.

Laguna first lost to the Thai by a 10th round knockout in a WBC Asian Boxing Council featherweight title fight on June 28, 2011 and lost by a 6th round knockout in a rematch, this time for the WBO Asia Pacific title.

Southpaw Pena who stands a mere 5?3? lost a unanimous eight round decision to Takahiro Yamamoto. He had previously lost by a 7th round technical decision to Pungkluang Sor Singyu in a WBO Oriental interim bantamweight title fight on December 2, 2011.

With his latest loss Pena fell to 25-12-2 with 10 knockouts while the 21 year old Yamamoto who stands 5? 7/12 ? improved to 7-3 with 5 knockouts.

One of his losses was to Japan-based Filipino Zerofit Jerope Mercado (Zuiyama) on March 27, 2011.
