
ROLLY LUNAS RETAINS OPBF TITLE WITH 1ST ROUND KO

Rolly Lunas who fights under the name Rolly Matrsushita since being based in Japan, has retained his Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation bantamweight title with a rousing 1st round knockout of South Korea?s Ji-Hwan Lee in Nagoya, Japan.
The 28 year old Lunas who is on a second tour of duty as OOBF champion had n o problem in disposing of the No. 15 ranked Korean who was coming off a loss to Bum_Soo Kim in a majority decision loss for the South Korean super bantamweight title last January 15.
With the win Lunas improved his record to 30-8-1 with 18 knockouts while Lee dropped to 5?2-1 with 2 knockouts.
Lunas first won the OPBF title with a 10th round technical decision over former OPBF bantamweight and world flyweight champion Malcom Tunacao on January 13, 2007 and had five successful title defenses.
In between he lost a twelve round unanimous decision to Anselmo Moreno in a WBA world bantamweight title fight.
After losing the title to Hiiromasa Ohashi by a 7th round knockout on June 21, 2009, Lunas came back to regain the vacant title with an 8th round knockout of another Japan-based Filipino Jerope Mercado who fights under the name Zerofit Jerope Zuiyama on July 31, 2011.
Lunas, a fine boxer, then successfully defended the title with an 11th round TKO over Kohei Oba on December 11, 2011.
