BANGOYAN TO FACE SANABRIA FOR WBC SILVER LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE

Balweg ?The Davao Hitman? Bangoyan will face reigning WBC silver lightweight champion Alejandro Sanabria on March 31 in Los Cabos, Baja California, Mexico.

A report by the WBC said Sanabria ?is training hard in the gym for what is going to be his second title defense? even as it confirmed that Bangoyan who lost by a 5th round TKO to WBC super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka on April 30, 2010, is confirmed as Sanabria?s opponent.

The 25 year old Bangoyan has a record of 17-5 with 7 knockouts and is coming of a loss in a Philippine Boxing Federation lightweight title fight to veteran Edgar Gabejan when Bangoyan retired in the 9th round.

The 5?9 ?? tall Sanabria has a record of 31-1-1 with 24 knockouts and is coming off a 4th round knockout of Filipino Jhunriel Ramonal last January 28 in his first silver lightweight title defense.

Sanabria won the vacant title with a 5th round knockout over former OPBF champion, veteran Filipino Vinvin Rufino on December 3, 2011.

The lanky Mexican predicted ?it would be a very tough fight, that?s how it always has been with Philippine fighters.?

The WBC quoted Sanabria as predicting ?I will retain my title, I need to, the chance of fighting for the absolute belt is near.?

He said he?s been training for almost a month now and he expects that in three more weeks he?ll be done.

The silver lightweight chamoion added ?I definitely will get in a mentally and physically great shape for the bout, with nothing on my mind but to win an retain my title?.


Sanabria said he knows Bangoyan?s style and said ?He?s a very strong and a fast boxer. He?s got a tough chin which is why my team and I chose sparring partners with a similar style?.
