Former WBO super flyweight champion Marvin Sonsona is determined to get back to the ?marvelous? ways that helped him win a world title at the age of 19 and has publicly committed to mend his wayward ways in the quest for a second world title.

Sonsona gets a chance to prove himself when he takes on Carlos ?El Flaco? Fulgencio of the Dominican Republic in the main event of the inaugural ?Pinoy Knockout? boxing show to be telecast from the Hoops Dome in Lapu Lapu City on a slightly delayed basis by AKTV IBC 13 on Saturday, beginning at 9:00 p.m.

While ?El Flaco? means ?thin, skinny and weak? promoter Samson Gello-ani warned that Fulgencio is a heavy puncher somewhat in the mould of Nicaragua?s late, great world champion Alexis ?Thin Man? Arguello and Sonsona better watch out for Fulgencio who has a record of 19-5-1 and has a four-fight winning streak, three by knockouts.

Gello-ani told the Manila Standard that Sonsona had changed his lifestyle after living with Gello-ani?s family in Cebu and being given the attention and concern he apparently didn?t receive from his parents.

He revealed that in his last fight against Carlos Jacobo when he won a ten round unanimous decision also at the Hoops Dome, Sonsona stayed in a condominium and ?sometimes after the training he would go out with friends, visiting girls and so on. But this time in my house, no.?

Gello-ani said that ?after his training Marvin is at the house and I can see what he?s doing. I?m so happy to see him even washing his clothes which I believe is a sign of getting matured. I hope this continues on and I believe he will give a really good fight? and take another step in his bid for another world title.

Sonsona himself told us he had trained hard for this fight and was ?well prepared after training hard and staying serious with two trainers including Danny Bactol my former trainer at the ALA Gym and my first trainer Celso .?

Sonsona said he had sparred at the gym of Rex ?Wakee? Salud against fighters like Marco Singwancha and even bigger fighters like Jimrex Jaca and was ready to give fight fans a show and prove that he had changed his ways.
