Tickets for the Manny Pacquiao-Timothy Bradley showdown at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on June 9 have gone so well in the sales on opening day that only 3,000 tickets remain.

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum was elated at the demand for tickets on the very first day they went on sale. The Grand Garden Arena has a capacity of 16,800 seats for boxing.

Arum told the Manila Standard that the follow-up to the two-city media promotional stops in Los Angeles and New York where scores of Filipinos showed up to cheer Pacquiao has been ?terrific.?

He said we have received ?great publicity on Bradley and there is a tremendous article in the Wall Street Journal also on Bradley and its all coming around.?

Pound for pound king Pacquiao?s strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza had earlier said indications are Pacquiao is determined to regain his vaunted speed and power as he keeps his focus on the Bradley fight and is not underestimating the undefeated junior welterweight champion.

Meantime, Arum disclosed that the Top Rank matchmakers are working on an opponent for the planned July title defense of WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire who won the title earlier this month with a comfortable twelve round unanimous decision over former champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr in San Antonio, Texas.

The latest name mentioned as a possible opponent is former IBF, WBC and WBA super flyweight champion Cristian Mijares who has moved up to 122 pounds and was at ringside for the Donaire-Vazquez title fight.

Arum said ?its being worked on and we are hoping to finalize everything this week. We are waiting for (Mexican promoter) Fernando Beltran to come into the office this week and we?ll finalize everything.?

Another possible opponent mentioned last week was Victor Terrazas who defeated former bantamweight champion Nehomar Cermeno in a WBA super bantamweight eliminator.
