
Quiambao is MBPI chairman

DAVAO City -- Businessman-boxing promoter-manager
Victor A. Quiambao of Davao City was unanimously
elected as the interim chairman of the newly-formed
Mindanao Boxing Productions Inc. last Thursday
afternoon at the RMC gym here.
MBPI is a corporation formed by the officers and
members of the Mindanao Professional Boxing
Association (Minproba).
Also elected were Eusebio "Jun" Almario Jr. of Tagum
City as corporate president; Rey Golingan of General
Santos City (corporate vice-president); Engr. Rey
Buenaventura of Davao City (corporate secretary);
Antonio Dacer of Davao City (corporate treasurer);
Engr. Geronimo Palermo (corporate auditor).
Also elected as the inaugural board of directors were
boxing icon Manny Pacquiao of General Santos City,
North Cotabato Gov. Manny Pinol, Sarangani Province
Gov. Migs Dominguez, Jose Abad Santos Mayor Alexander
Wangkay a.k.a. Zander Khan, Dr. Roberto Omandac of
Kidapawan City, Vicente J. Adriano and Alejandro "Boy
Bilaan" Acojedo of Davao City, Joel Fernandez of
Bukidnon and Ismael Danong of Midsayap, North
Cotabato.
"We want to bring back boxing alive here again in
Mindanao," said Quiambao, who will announce later
their induction.
Buenaventura, on the other hand, said their motto is,
"Once we said it, we do it. It'sbeen planned, (so) it
shall be done."
Also present during the elections were Games and
Amusements Board (GAB) officer-in-charge for Southern
Mindanao Jimmy Mata, retired GAB OIC Bob Binondo,
boxing promoters/managers Leonil Lazarito of Valencia
City, Ma. Fe Contayoso of Kidapawan, Ricardo Magarin,
Teofilo Ramos Jr. and Romulieto Samson of Davao City,
trainers Romeo Belarmino of Davao, Mario Miranda of
Cagayan de Oro, Usualdo Zayes and Danny Ortega of
Midsayap.
MPBI was formed to help promote boxing and the
promoters, managers, trainers and boxers. Minproba
will still exists since it recognized by the Games and
