Newly crowned IBF light flyweight interim champion Johnriel Casimero is the subject of several congressional resolutions for his courageous 10th round TKO victory over former champion Luiz Lazarte of Argentina and for braving a post-fight riot at Mar del Plata.

Speaker Feliciano Belmonte received Casimero at his office in the House of Representatives after Casimero paid a courtesy call on congresswoman Lucy Torres.

Belmonte congratulated Casimero and told him that several congressman had filed resolutions commending him for his performance.

Casimero?s promoter Sammy Gello-ani said the boxer will also pay a courtesy call on vice president Jojo Binay on Thursday afternoon.

Gello-ani?s partner, well-known international promoter and matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz is scheduled to arrive on March 7 carrying with him Casimero?s belt which could not be presented to the champion in the ring because of the post-fight riot.

They are also expected to announce Casimero?s first title defense which may be against Mexican Sammy Gutierrez who recently scored a 5th round TKO over Roilo Golez in Mexico.
