The battle between big George Foreman and then undefeated heavyweight champion ?Smokin Joe? Frazier highlights an exciting presentation of Super Fights? telecast by AKTV IBC 13 tonight at 9:00 p.m.

In the fight which took place in Kingston, Jamaica on January 22, 1973 Foreman battered Frazier into submission in two rounds in what was one of the most brutal beatings Frazier suffered in which Frazier was dropped no less than six times .

Strangely, the result was considered at that time as one of the biggest upsets in boxing although Foreman himself was unbeaten and enjoyed a four inch height advantage and towered over Frazier.

Frazier came in open using his customary style of bobbing and weaving but just two minutes into the opening round Foreman decked Frazier with a monstrous punch and went on to send Frazier crashing to the canvas a total of six times before referee Arthur Mercante Sr. had seen enough and saved the hapless Frazier from a further beating if not embarrassment.

The fight was historic in the sense that it was the very first telecast by HBO Sports with the inimitable Howard Cosell as commentator.

In fact Cosell?s ?Down goes Frazier! Downb goes Frazier!? ended up as one of the most memorable sports calls of all time.

Equally memorable, according to the boxing encyclopedia was Foreman?s final punch - an uppercut landed with such force that it lifted Frazier off his feet before sending him crashing to the canvas. The gallant Frazier once again beat the count but the referee wisely stopped the massacre which ended Frazier?s 29-0 winning record.

In another highlight segment on the increasingly watched ?Super Fights? on AKTV IBC 13, undefeated Floyd Mayweather who takes on Miguel Angel Cotto on May 5 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas is seen in action in his welterweight debut against two-time former light welterweight champion Sharmba Mitchell who had a record 56-5 with 30 knockouts entering the ring at the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon.

Mayweather, using his hand speed and deft movement dominated the opening rounds before he caught Mitchell with a right and dropped him in the third round.

Mayweather continued to batter Mitchell and finally dropped him with a solid body shot in the sixth round and referee Richard Steele stepped in to stop the slaughter at 2:05 of the sixth round.

Also on the show will be the WBO light heavyweight battle between Nicky Piper of Wales and American Leeonzer Barber. It was a draw going into the 9th round before Barber overwhelmed Piper forcing referee Ismael Quinones Falu to call a halt at 1:40 of the round.
