RICK STAHALEY SAYS DONAIRE HAS TO DEVELOP HIS BODY BEFORE MOVING UP IN WEIGHT

American trainer Rick Stahaley said yesterday that one of his favorite fighters Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire ?Is going to have to develop his body to move up in weight to 126 or 130.?

Stahaley who trained current pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao when he won his first world title with a sensational 8th round knockout of Thailand?s WBC flyweight champion Chatchai Sasakul in December 1998 told the Manila Standard ?I wouldn?t be in any hurry to move up.?

The American trainer who watched the fight on ABS-CBN Channel 2 said Donaire ?was sitting on those counters too much and got hit more than he probably should have but I tell you (Wilfredo) Vazquez was pretty tough. I thought Donaire was going to stop him but he had a little bit of a tougher fight than I expected but like I said, Vazquez came to fight.?

Stahaley said ?the first thing I noticed is Nonito doesn?t carry 122 pounds well. To me he looked like he could make 118 forever. Around his waist he doesn?t really look like he is 122 pounder.?

Stahaley said Donaire has ?a great counter left and that counter right was there all night but he wasn?t really using it. The other guy was throwing single jabs and it was perfect for dropping that counter right and coming back with the left hook.?

The trainer noticed that Donaire ?is more into that left uppercut, left hook counter than he is to the counter right. He got hit more than he should have just by waiting for the counter. I think he should lead a little but more.?

Stahaley said ?the first thing I noticed was his body. He is moving up and everybody wants it fast and furious but I say take your time getting to a 130 because if he gets to 130 and he wins the title it comes to six and I had predicted Donaire would win five or six world titles.?

The respected trainer who has worked with some promising young fighters blasted judge Ruben Garcia for his 115-113 scorecard in favor of Vasquez , saying he had Donaire winning by 9 rounds to 3 while ?some idiot had it 8 to 4 the other way. How the hell do you get that??
