The World Boxing Council has announced thatWBC lightweight Silver champion Alejandro Sanabria will defend his title against unranked Filipino Jhunriel Ramonal in Chihuahua, Mexico on January 28 in a card promoted by Promociones del Pueblo.
Sanabria who stands 5?9 ?? has a record of 30-1-1 with 23 knockouts and is ranked No. 6 in the world by the WBC while the 22 year old has a record of 12-4-1 with 6 knockouts.
Sanabria finished his training in the Pancho Rosales Gym and his father who is also his manager said Sanabria will only do some light training just to maintain his weight.
They Sanabri-Ramonal bout will be featured on the undercard of the bout where Marco ?Dorado? Reyes will make the defense of his FECOMBOX title against Isaac ?Gallo Negro? Mendez.
Sanabria won the vacant Silver title with a 5th round knockout of the expetienced Vinvin Rufino (30-14-3, 14 KO's) last December 3, 2011 . Earlier on he wonnthe vacant WBC Continental Americas super featherweight title with a twelve round decision over tough Rocky Juarez a perennial world title challenger.
Ramonal won the Philippine super bantamweight title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Rnel Suco on September 16, 2011 after dropping a split decision in an battle for the vacant Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation title against Hiromasa Ohashi of Japan on March 27 last year.
Once again the Manila Standard raises its concern over the Sanabria-Ramonal title fight considering the difference in both the fighters records, quality of opponents and experience as well as the fact that Ramonal, a super bantamweight will be moving up two weight divisions to fight Sanabria, an accomplsied world-rated lightweight while Ramonal is not rated at all by the WBC.
