Former IBF world minimum weight champion Florante Condes? title fight against IBO champion Hekkie Budler on March 3 in South Africa has been postponed as Condes is scheduled to undergo surgery at 2:00 p.m. today (Friday) because of what doctors said was ?urethral stricture.?

Condes is confined at the Kidney Center in Quezon City.

MedlinePlus states that urethral stricture ?is an abnormal narrowing of the tube that carries urine out of the body from the bladder? and may be caused by inflammation or scar tissues from surgery, disease or injury.?

According to an aunt of Condes, Ms Loy Valencia, his doctors are Noel Ricardo, Francisco Firmalo, Emmanuel Lennon and Adolf Stephen Bagadiong.

Valencia said a day before he was to leave his home in Romblon to come to Manila to begin training he was hunting birds and fell off a tall tree he had climbed and injured his penis and ?a tube inside had apparently been cut so they inserted a catheter (a tube) so he could urinate.?

Condes was originally scheduled to be operated on yesterday but he had high blood hours before the operation which as a result was postponed for today.

Ms. Valencia said that rather than operate to insert a tube in the stomach doctors would insert the tube below the ?scrotum? which is a part of a male?s body located behind the penis.

She said that recuperation would be far sooner and that should all go well Condes ?could begin training after a month.?

Ms. Valencia said that ?after the operation and gives him the go signal? to train she would inform the South African promoter who she said was ?very nice and was prepared to postpone the title fight to May.
