Former World Boxing Council light flyweight champion Adrian ?Confesor? Hernandez who returned to Mexico after losing his title by a 10th round knockout to Thailand?s Kompayak Porpramook has not only accepted his defeat but has also praised the Thai champion.
Hernandez was quoted by the WBC website saying ?He made a great fight, I fought with my best boxing, I?m not happy, I feel I failed to all the fans, to my country; it was a tough fight, he?s a great boxer who have a hard chin and great strength?.
Hernandez added , ?The only good thing is that I think the rematch has been agreed, I will train hard, I will defeat him, I got very tired in the bout, the weather made struggle on my condition, now I have nothing left to do but to fight to get my title back?
The former champion said he will ?take a break for a month and then I?ll train again, I want the rematch, I will speak with my agent, and the bout might be in Mexico.?
The ten round war is regarded as a candidate for the ?Fight of the Year? in which Porpramook showed his great boxing skills. His hard shots to the body and head of Hernandez hurt the Mexican who fought bravely but couldn?t withstand Pompayak.
The new world champion showed great strength, a strong jaw and extraordinary physical condition.
Hernandez said the weather sapped his energy but refused to take anything away from Porpramook,s victory, He said ?I lost my title but I will be champion once again. I feel sad for losing my WBC belt. It was a very tough fight, the most difficult of my career, I trained hard, I was confident in winning. Porpramook is a very strong boxer that punches hard and has a very strong chin. The weather made a struggle on my physical condition, since the ninth round I felt very tired, I couldn?t get used to the weather in Thailand, but that's not an excuse, he was better?.
He concluded ?I promise that in 2012 I will get back my title, I will defeat Porpramook and I will ask my promoter, Salvador Briman, to ask for the rematch bout next year. Once again I apologize for my failure? Hernandez celebrated Christmas along with his team in Thailand.
