Atty. David Marroso.
The lawyer of Ring Magazine?s pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao says Mayweather?s 90 day prison sentence should not delay Pacquiao?s defamation case against Mayweather from moving forward.
Top-notch Atty. David Marroso told the Manila Standard ?At this time, we are not aware of any reason, including Mayweather's criminal situation, that would disrupt or delay Pacquiao's defamation case from proceeding.?
Marroso revealed that Mayweather ?has been deposed and we expect Pacquiao to be deposed, although the date has not been set.?
With Pacquiao planning to spend the New Year holidays with his family in Los Angeles where he is also scheduled to meet with Top Rank promoter Bob Arum to discuss a possible opponent for his next fight in the absence of Mayweather, Pacquiao could possibly find time to give his deposition while in Los Angeles.
Arum earlier told the Standard that he preferred a June date for Pacquiao's next fight instead of the May 5 date mentioned before by Mayweather?s camp.
With Mayweather out of the equation, Arum has mentioned a possible fourth fight with Juan Manuel Marquez, a rematch with Miguel Cotto or a bout against Timothy Bradley.
Trainer Freddie Roach has added Lamont Peterson to the mix pointing out that the junior welterweight entered the ring at 155 pounds when he won the IBF title from Amir Khan and would make, in Roach?s words, ?a great opponent? should Peterson decide against a rematch with Khan who is also trained by Roach.
