Manila Standard Today and Philboxing writer Ronnie Nathanielsz has clarified a line in his recent article on Pacquiao's former sparring partner Glen Tapia winning his bout in New York on the undercard of the Cotto-Margarito rematch.
In the article, Nathanielsz wrote "Former pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao?s sparring partner Glen Tapia..." in the opening paragraph which some readers have interpreted to mean that Nathanielsz was calling Pacquiao as a "former pound for pound king."
Nathanielsz explained in his e-mail to us:
Perhaps the construction of my sentence was misleading since the title said "Ex-Pacquiao Sparring Partner" which clearly shows I meant that Glen Tapia was the former sparring partner, not that Pacquiao was the former pound for pound king, because I always refer to Manny as the Ring Magazine pound for pound king which he is.
I don't wish for anybody to read any malice into this because it was never intended as such.
Nathanielsz sent a corrected version of the line below:
"The former sparring partner of Ring Magazine's pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao, Glen Tapia..."
