NEW YORK -- WBA Lightweight titlist Brandon Rios (pictured, above) came in at 136.4 and at 135.6 lbs. on his initial two tries at the scale. The division's limit is at 135 lbs. His opponent, John Murray did not his have that problem as he weighed in at 134.75 lbs. Rios reweighed after 30 minutes but was still 0.6 pounds overweight. He stepped on the scale a third time but he still came over the limit. He even weighed more at 136.6 lbs. Rios was stripped of his belt and Top Rank negotiated with Murray's time for the fight to move on tomorrow. They offered him 20 thousand of Rios' purse for them to go ahead with the fight. Murray and his team accepted it pending another demand. Rios is to be weighed tomorrow before the fight and he is not to exceed 10 lbs. of what he weighed today or a maximum of 146 lbs. If he does, the fight is off.

The main combatants for tomorrow's war at the "Mecca of Boxing" made weight at the weigh-ins held at the adjacent Theatre at MSG today. WBA Jr. Middleweight Champ Miguel Cotto weighed in at 152.25 lbs. while challenger Antonio Margarito came in at 152.5 lbs. Both made weights in their first try at the scales. They did not do the usual fighter's "Face-off" as Bob Arum had to stand in between the two to prevent any untoward incidents during their time at the stage. It is not necessary for one as you can feel the tension from both fighters even without it.

The following are the other weights from the PPV undercards from today:

IBA Jr. Middleweight Title: Delvin Rodriguez 153 lbs. vs. Pawel Wolak 153.5

IBF Eliminator, NABA & NABO Welterweight Title: Sebastian Lujan 146 lbs. vs. Mike Jones 146 lbs.

Light heavyweight: Allen Medina 174.25 lbs. vs. Mike Lee 177 lbs.

Light Heavyweight: Santos Martinez 175.5 lbs. vs. Sean Monaghan 176 lbs.

Super Welterweight: Mike Ruiz 153.5 lbs. vs. Glen Tapia 153.25

Featherweight: Tommy Garcia 125.25 lbs. vs. Braulio Santos 126 lbs.

Bantamweight: Felipe Castaneda 115.25 lbs. vs. Hanzel Martinez 115.5 lbs.

Welterweight: Latwon Halsey 145.5 lbs. vs. Samuel Figueroa 145 lbs.
