NEW YORK -- The Big Apple officially kicked off Fight Week with two back to back media workouts for the main combatants of the war that is to happen on Saturday at the Madison Square Garden (MSG).

Antonio Margarito held his workout at the Kingsway Gym in West 28th Street yesterday, Monday, together with fighters who are fighting on Saturday's undercards. Brandon "Bam Bam" Rios, Delvin Rodriguez and Pawel Wolak joined Margarito in a media workout in this gym in Midtown Manhattan. They all participated in workouts in and outside of the ring and then spoke to members of the press covering the said event.

Meanwhile, defending WBA light middleweight titlist Miguel Cotto held his media workout today at the Trinity Boxing Club at Greenwich Street. Cotto performed exercises then did some mitt and pad work in the ring with new trainer, Pedro Diaz. He also spoke to the media and answered questions that were fielded at him during the short impromptu session.

Both boxers will be at the final press conference tomorrow at the Theater of Madison Square Garden at 12 noon. They will then meet on Friday at the same venue for the official weigh-in for the fight. The weigh-in is open to the public and both fighters are expected to step to the scales at 5 pm EST. The public will need to have tickets though for the said event. Tickets at a limit of two per person will be given away at the MSG Box Office starting tomorrow at noon until Friday or until the tickets are gone. The fighters fighting in the under cards will also be weighed - in at the same day.

Doors of the MSG will open at 6:30 pm EST with the first fight scheduled to begin at 7 pm. HBO broadcast starts at 9 pm with welterweight prospect and Philly native Mike Jones taking on tough Sebastian Lujan of Argentina. This will be followed by a Fight of the Year rematch between east Coast standouts, Pawel Wolak and Delvin Rodriguez. Their first battle last July ended in a draw in one of this year's best match. It is in the short list of 2010's Fight of the Year candidates. Then WBA lightweight champ, Brandon Rios will be defending his belt against John Murray of the UK in the prelude to the main event.
