RAY LAS PINAS LOSES BY SPLIT DECISION IN JAPAN

Philippine Boxing Federation bantamweight champion Ray Las Pinas has lost by a split decision in a close eight round bout with Japan?s undefeated Yushi Tanaka at the International Conference Hall in Nagoya, Japan, Tuesday.

Two of the three judges had Tanaka the winner by scores of 77-75 and 77-76 while the third judge scored the fight for Ray Las Pinas 77-76.

The win improved Tanaka?s record to 6-0-2 with 4 knockouts while Ray Las Pinas dropped to 14-5-4 with 9 knockouts.

The 20 year old Tanaka was coming off a 5th round TKO victory over Akifumi Hayashi last September 24 while Las Pinas won a ten round unanimous decision over Rex Olisa last September 3.

He had earlier won the Philippine Boxing Federation bantamweight title via a 7th round TKO over Donriel Marcos last July 13.
