Bob Arum.

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum has confirmed that Manny Pacquiao?s adviser Michael Koncz met with Floyd Mayweather Jr at his gym in Las Vegas but both Arum and Koncz didn?t disclose what Koncz and Mayweather discussed.

Arum told the Manila Standard ?There are a couple of investors who want to put up a lot of money to do the fight. So we are exploring how real it is.?

He said ?the investors know Mayweather. They met with us at my house and they told Michael that they were going to see Mayweather and that Roger Mayweather (the fighter?s uncle and trainer) would meet Michael outside the gym and take him in to meet with Mayweather.?

Arum said the people who are interested in putting the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight together are ?US bankers, investors and there is another group that is from California and there is a third group from New York.?

Arum said ?how real this is I don?t know.?

The Top Rank promoter took the opportunity to dispel claims that he doesn?t want the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight to happen. He said ?that?s ridiculous.?

He explained that ?at no time did Mayweather ever say I?m going to have Golden Boy involved or Al Haymon or (Leonard) Ellerbe. These people say that I don?t want the fight because I don?t want to sit down with them, maybe not ever.?

Arum said ?if I explore the deal and Floyd likes the deal, hopefully he?ll accept it and if he doesn?t like the deal and then he says we have to do a regular ordinary deal so we run it ourselves, I?ll sit down with whomever he says. But right now it makes no sense to sit down with anybody else.?

Koncz earlier told us he was in Orange County in California and declined to comment on his reported meeting with Mayweather. However, Koncz made it clear that ?if this fight is going to happen it has to be done quietly and secretly.

Responding to claims that there are too many people who don?t want the fight to happen, Koncz insisted ?Bob Arum is not one of them.?

Pacquiao himself told a news conference in his hometown of General Santos City the other day that negotiations with the Mayweather camp were on-going but nothing had been finalized.
