BRUNKER BEATS AGUELO TO WIN WBO ORIENTAL FEATHERWEIGHT INTERIM TITLE

Undefeated Joe Brunker of Australia has beaten Filipino TI Yamagata Aguelo to win the WBO Oriental featherweight interim title by a twelve round unanimous decision in Richmond, New South Wales

The 25 year old Brunker who stands 5? 7 ?? won on the scorecards of all three judges to improve his record to 21-0 with 13 knockouts.

Judge Ray Reid had Brunker winning by a 116-112 margin while David Grainger scored it for the Australian by a narrow one point margin 115-114 while the third judge Des Bloyd had it for Brunker 116-112.

Brunker had previously beaten a number of Filipino fighters and was coming off an eight round unanimous decision win over Reynaldo Belandres last August 31.

He also successfully defended his Australian featherweight title with a 7th round TKO victory over Ernie Gonzales Jr who is originally from Kidapawan but now fights out of Sydney, Australia.

Aside from holding the Australian title Brunker is also the WBO Youth champion.

With the loss Aguelo dropped to 15-7-1 with 9 knockouts. He was coming off a 4th round TKO victory over Jake Verano for the Philippine Boxing Federation title last September 15.
