PACQUIAO WINS BY MAJORITY DECISION OVER MARQUEZ

MGM GRAND, LAS VEGAS -- Filipino superstar and pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao retained his WBO title via majority decision over Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez here tonight as the epic trilogy ended up in an undecisive fashion as many of the rounds were close enough to be scored at either fighter. The scores were Robert Hoyle, 114-114; Dave Moretti, 115-113 and Glenn Trowbridge, 116-112 for Pacquiao.

Reaction of the capacity crowd, about half of them Mexicans, was generally of displeasure about the result who shouted a resounding boo when Pacquiao was about to be interviewed by HBO's Max Kellerman.

Pacquiao was escorted heavily going to the exit as the Mexicans fans would let go with their catcalls.

As with the first two fights, journalists at ringside were divided with their scores with many had Marquez winning the bout. Philboxing had it 115-113 for Pacquiao.

Pacquiao has thrown 578 punches connecting 176 while Marquez had it 436 connecting 138. Pacquiao threw 304 jabs connecting 59 to Marquez's 182 with 38 connects. Pacquiao threw 274 power punches connecting 117 while Marquez threw 254 with 100 connecting.
